چکیده

Figure 2. Cardiac artefacts in grey matter voxels. Fractional anisotropy (FA) estimates (top row) and corresponding artefact detection scores (bottom row) for different artefact magnitude (left) and frequency (right). Note the overall small performance drop of GMM and LRESTORE, which is due to the early hyperbolic decay of the weighting function, resulting in non-zero false-positive detection percentages (lower panels). The small performance drop for intermediate artefact magnitudes can be attributed to true-positive scores that have not yet reached 100%. Akin results were found for white matter voxels, MD and PDD (not shown). PATCHING CARDIAC AND HEAD MOTION ARTEFACTS IN DIFFUSION IMAGING

Is correction for metallic artefacts mandatory in cardiac SPECT/CT imaging in the presence of pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator leads?

Introduction: Metallic artifacts due to pacemaker/ implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) leads in CT images can produce artifactual uptake in cardiac SPECT/CT images. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the metallic artifacts due to pacemaker and ICD leads on myocardial SPECT/CT imaging. Methods: The study included 9 patients wh...

Robust estimator framework in diffusion tensor imaging

Diffusion of water molecules in the human brain tissue has strong similarities with diffusion in porous media. It is affected by different factors such as restrictions and compartmentalization, interaction with membrane walls, strong anisotropy imposed by cellular microstructure, etc. However, multiple artefacts abound in in vivo measurements either from subject motions, such as cardiac pulsati...

Irretrievable signal loss in partial-Fourier acquired diffusion-weighted images

Introduction Diffusion weighted (DW) imaging is highly sensitive for bulk motion, which frequently occurs in vivo, such as in the lower brain areas, where the parenchyma pulsates rhythmically due to cardiac activity. It is known that for partial-Fourier (PF) imaging, the emergence of pulsation artefacts in DW images depends critically on the image reconstruction method. Specifically, it has bee...

Automated Detection of Motion Artefacts in MR Imaging Using Decision Forests

The acquisition of a Magnetic Resonance (MR) scan usually takes longer than subjects can remain still. Movement of the subject such as bulk patient motion or respiratory motion degrades the image quality and its diagnostic value by producing image artefacts like ghosting, blurring, and smearing. This work focuses on the effect of motion on the reconstructed slices and the detection of motion ar...

3d Multi-slab Diffusion-weighted Readout-segmented Echo-planar Imaging with Real-time Cardiac-reordered K-space Acquisition

Introduction Readout-segmented EPI (rs-EPI) improves diffusion-weighted (DW) image quality through multi-shot, navigated acquisition (1-4). A natural extension of this technique would be a 3D rs-EPI trajectory, enabling more efficient acquisition at SNR-optimal TRs (1-2s), acceleration along multiple dimensions and the acquisition of thin slices. However, the data acquisition and reconstruction...
